Combat
Swords and tools shrink. Other items and blocks stay as they are.
Lower it for a subtler crosshair. It always stays visible: Minecraft inverts the colours behind it.
Minecraft tints sharpness sparks blue, so this colour comes out bluer and darker in game. The preview shows the real result.
Visibility
Plain glass keeps only its frame. Stained glass keeps a faint tint so you can still tell the colours apart. Connected glass (OptiFine) is cleared too.
Only your own view changes: other players still see the pumpkin on your head.
Minecraft draws armor fully solid, so this is on or off. Armor trims are hidden too.
Performance
Your pack’s animated textures keep their first frame, which can help FPS with high-resolution packs. The compass and clock keep working.
The vignette only shows with Fancy or Fabulous graphics.
Style
On 1.14 and older, Minecraft tints every glint purple, so some colours come out darker.
Type a Java username: the totem shows that player’s head and shoulders.

Yes. It is free with no signup and no watermark. Pick a pack, choose your tweaks and download.
What is an overlay pack?
A small resource pack that changes only a few things, like your sword size or the fire on your screen. It goes above your main pack in the Resource Packs menu, so it works with any pack. Choose Overlay pack to get one, or build the tweaks straight into your pack.
Does it change the rest of my pack?
No. Only the files for the tweaks you pick are written. Every other file in your pack is copied exactly as it was, and smaller swords keep your pack’s own sword art.
Which Minecraft versions work?
Java Edition 1.8.9 to 26.x. Each tweak is written in the layout your pack’s version uses. Low shield needs 1.9 or newer, and smaller totem pops and skin totems need 1.11 or newer.
Why does the crosshair need my pack on 1.8.9?
Up to 1.20.1 Minecraft keeps the crosshair in the same image as the hearts, hunger and armor bar. The Overlay Maker draws your crosshair into your pack’s image so the rest of your HUD stays the same.
Why do some colours look different in game?
Minecraft tints a few things itself: every enchantment glint up to 1.14, and sharpness sparks on every version. The live preview shows the colour you will really see, and the Overlay Maker mixes your pick to come as close as that tint allows.
Does clear glass work with connected glass?
Yes. Connected glass from OptiFine (CTM) is cleared too, tile by tile, so windows still look joined up.
Can I use it on servers?
Resource packs only change what you see on your own screen. Most servers allow them, but check each server’s rules.
Can it boost FPS?
It can help a little. Still animations, no clouds and no vignette take work away from the game, mostly with high-resolution packs. The biggest gains still come from your video settings and a lower-resolution pack.
Can I share my settings?
Yes. Copy link, under the build button, gives a link that opens the Overlay Maker with the same tweaks (and the same PVPRP pack, if you picked one). Your last settings are also remembered on this device.
Is my pack stored?
No. An uploaded pack is only used to build your download and is not kept.
