Cape questions
Quick answers about getting, buying and showing off capes
How many capes are there in Minecraft?
PVPRP lists 46 official capes, from the Classic Mojang Cape in 2010 to the Aurora, Hero and Twisted capes from September 2026. Some went to one player only, others to millions.
How do I get a cape right now?
Every player has the free Pan cape. Until 15 October 2026: the Aurora Cape (watch a Minecraft Dungeons II stream). Until 31 December 2026: the Hero Cape (play Dungeons, then log into Dungeons II). Minecraft Experience events also give a cape with each ticket.
Can you buy a Minecraft cape?
Not from Mojang. But many official capes were handed out as redeem codes, like the Minecraft Experience, Menace, Purple Heart and Copper capes, and unused codes get resold on sites like mccapes.net. Those sales are unofficial, so you are trusting the seller. Capes that went straight onto accounts, like Twisted or Migrator, can't be bought at all. OptiFine (US$10), LabyMod, Lunar and Badlion also sell their own capes, but those only show for players using the same mod or client.
Do capes work on Bedrock?
Yes. Equip official capes in the Character Creator. Bedrock capes come from events and promos and can't be bought with Minecoins; the Pan cape is free for everyone.
What is the rarest Minecraft cape?
The one-off capes, like the Millionth Customer cape and the personal gifts, belong to a single player each. Of the event capes, Minecon 2011 is among the rarest because only people at the first Minecon got one.
